It’s an interesting thing that I never give up on people or situations. When I commit, I’m all in.

What’s ironic is that I haven’t traditionally shared that tenacity in every area of my life.

When I was a kid, I tried out a number of different sports…t-ball, soccer, basketball, field hockey, etc. I wouldn’t say I was the most athletic so I didn’t really stick with them to try to get better.

I also took lessons for violin and saxophone (twice) – didn’t stick with those either.

Yet, when it comes to the important things in life…relationships, work, life changing circumstances, I don’t ever give up. I give them all I have (and often more than I thought I had).

I think it’s not so much about giving up but realizing that we can’t be great at everything. Sure, you can keep practicing to master your craft, but if you don’t have the aptitude or interest, it’s not worth it when you can be spending your time somewhere else.

But for those things that really matter to me? I don’t ever give up. Tenacious until the end.
