10 years ago in May 2016 I wrote my first blog post on lisapromise.com. It was announcing that I would begin pursuing consulting full-time on June 1st.

The sub-header on my site over the last decade has been “the balance of life and work” – but truthfully, this site has been a lot more about life. It’s a funny thing though, it’s never really been about the balance. The two collide. They’re intermingled. I define myself by what I do. My work is defined by me.

My maiden name, my married name. One for work, one for life. Though legally, my full name reflects them both and so do I.

I am beginning to envision the next decade. Who I want to be and what I want my business to become. I take pride in my work and in who I am. And one thing I know for sure? Whatever may come, I will hold true to this.

Rather than the balance of life and work, it’s the ebbs and flows that carry us.
