Boundaries

“Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves even when we risk disappointing others.” – Brené Brown

Have you ever said no to someone and hurt their feelings? Or said yes and it ends up hurting you?

Boundaries are difficult to create and harder to keep. You’ll sometimes question if you’re doing the right thing or it’s better to give in to the wishes of others.

If you’re a people pleaser by nature, you’ll find this even more challenging.

You aim to do right by others but not at the sake of your sanity.

You may not be understood. You may be questioned or even judged. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you to take care of yourself.

This is not an excuse to be unkind or hurtful. It’s a way to protect your own needs so that you can be the best version of yourself.

We can’t say “yes” to everything. We must make choices, and we should make the choices that are right for us.

This may very well lead to disappointment, but all you can do is stand firm, compromise where/when reasonable – and always do it with love.
