Perspective

Perspective – how important, yet forgotten. As humans, we are often self-absorbed and obsessed. We’re obsessed with our own issues, our own feelings, our own concerns, our own thoughts and dreams. But what if you could look at your own life in a new light, with a new perspective? What if the things that fill you with anxiety and cause you to lose sleep really aren’t that big of problems after all? This isn’t to diminish the annoyances that happen in everyone’s every day lives. You have a right to your feelings and you can feel angry, sad, happy, mad. But, does it need to ruin your day, your week, your life?

I’ve had my own grievances over the last month. Minor stresses and what I felt were major. But, recently, my perspective has changed. Due to specific situations happening to those I know or love, I’ve come to realize…maybe these things just aren’t that important. As the saying goes, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” And as one of my favorite Bible verses says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

This isn’t to say your problems don’t matter. The point is that perhaps you should shift your perspective. What’s really important in life is very little. It’s not physical things or money. It’s family, friends, your health, your sanity. Stress only takes away, it never gives. If you don’t see it, change your view.
